2012 'Ard Boyz List

So I took 2nd place at 'Ard Boyz with my Chaos Space Marines Army.  Here is my list...

So thats the list, it worked like a charm. I briefly contemplated running the infamous Lash Princes, which really works great and would have been very good in certain situations, but I ended up going with nurgle/warptime for the extra survivability and the ability to deal with the large amount of vehicles that are usually at these tournaments. 

The list is fairly standard DP, Oblits, Plagues.  I ran 3x plague units with plasma guns which are simply amazing.  Never under-estimate 12x str 7 ap2 shots a turn.   The one unit with 2x meltagun was just about worthless, the 12" range on the melta really sucks, by the time you get that close your getting assaulted or blown up, going to leave the melta guns at home next time and run 4 units of plagues all with plasma guns.  For anti-AV I have 2x3 suicide termies with combi-meltas and 9 oblits, thats good enough for most lists.  I may try to put a combi-melta on each rhino instead of the extra-armor to make up a little more anti-av.

Whats that random noise marines squad doing?? Meh, point filler and objective camper with a 48" range good ap blast to take down mEQs.  I just keep him at my home base or get him to the closest objective possible.  This guy really didn't do much killing, but having that cheap unit sitting on my objective to score those points in round two was great. It freed up all 4 plague squads to move out, do some damage and get the other objectives. 

I ended up with a total score of 55 points, 1st place had 58 points and 3rd place had 52 points.  Pretty close top 3 overall...

I'll go over a very brief synapses of each round and later on tonight/tomorrow I'll post a breakdown of each round and opponent.

My first round I had a minor victory racking up 15 points against Eldar.  He was running a modified Mechdar list. He killed my traitor and kept his zooming around the battlefield, I just could not hit/kill/stun those transports! Luckily I did extremely will on kill points taking out almost his entire army, whereas he killed very little of mine. 

Second round was Jumppack/Deepstriking Blood Angels with tons of troops and no vehicles.  Needless to say 9 plasma cannons and 12 plasma guns pretty much obliterated this army giving me a massacre and racking up a cool 22 points giving me 37 total and putting me around 2nd or 3rd overall after 2nd round.

Third round was Dark Angels: Deathwing with 3 dreadnoughts and so many terminators!! Good thing termies hate plasma, this was my toughest round by far.  I didn't really have a plan going into the match because I was concerned about all the massive armor and storm shields, and a stranger walked up saying "Just remember, when you miss, just shoot again". A simple statement, but for some reason that stuck with me throughout the match, I stayed dilligent and really focused fired at only 1-2 units at a time, finishing them off and then moving on to the next.  Gotta say it really worked out... greater details of this awesome match to come.  Oh, Major victory 18 points.
